Book review & clean-up

Books left untouched, an accountant who left mid-year, or an inspection notice on the desk: that is when the books need cleaning up. We review documents and returns across the years, point out where the risks are, redo what needs redoing and hand back a clean set. This is an accounting service, not an independent audit.

Scope of work

  • Reviewing prior-year books and naming the risks plainly
  • Rebuilding financial statements, amending filed returns
  • Preparing files and explanations for an inspection
  • Handing a complete, coherent set of books back to you

What you receive

  • A review report listing errors and their level of risk
  • A fix plan: book adjustments, supplementary returns, missing documents
  • Rebuilt books and financial statements (if you choose)
  • Figures ready for a meeting with the tax office

Timing

Review and report in 1 to 3 weeks depending on years and volume; rework is scheduled separately in the quote.

Cost

Quoted after we review your file, in writing, before any work starts.

FAQ

Common questions

Is this an audit?

No. It is an accounting service to correct and complete the books. If you need an independent audit report, that has to come from a licensed audit firm.

Many documents are missing — can it still be done?

Yes, but how far depends on which documents can be obtained again. We tell you what can and cannot be recovered before starting.

Will finding errors mean an immediate penalty?

Finding and correcting errors yourself before an inspection is usually treated far more lightly than having them found.

How long does it take?

Usually 1 to 3 weeks for the review. Rework depends on the number of years and is set out in the quote.

Not sure this is what you need?
